Writing It Down

Brainstorming new ideas should be on the table.  When is the last time that you considered doing brainstorming?  What are the possible outcomes?  Getting into a place where you can start pushing the boundaries is what brainstorming is all about.

Stepping back and taking a look from a different view point and exploring new directions is a part of the process.  What comes into your thinking when you hear the word brainstorming?  A room with some chairs and a table.  A group of people asking questions.  A single person sitting at a table with a pencil and piece of paper.

The ideas can start flowing.  Are you going to let the ideas flee away never to return?  It can happen with ideas.  It happens all the time.  One of the ways to make sure the ideas don't go is to record them.  Writing the ideas of brainstorming down or recording the brainstorming sessions is key.

How often are you coming up with new ideas?  Are you doing the same things over and over without making any progress?  Asking more questions and trying new things is just a part of the equation.

Are you using software?  Is there a better way to get it done? Should you even be doing it anymore?  What are the things that you are doing?  There are so many questions to explore.

Brainstorming is thinking.  Brainstorming is idea creating.  Change your thinking and change your view.  Write the brainstorming down.

Content Ideas for Your Blog

Keep your home office blog updated with new content.  Writing content for your blog is not hard when you have access to content.  How can you get your hands on a lot of content for blogging?

Take a look at plr content.  It stands for private label rights.  This is content that you can pick up for a few dollars or less.  Some sites give away plr articles for free.

How can you use plr articles on your blog?  Find plr articles that are related to your niche.  You don't want to just add them to your blog without making changes.  This content will need to be rewritten.

Read the articles first and then go back and write them in your own words.  Who knows where the plr articles are coming from.  You might read some of the articles and immediately notice some funky spelling or phrases.  Make the articles sound like something that you would say.

Some of the content files are kind of small, so you might want to consider pulling two or more articles together to get a longer piece of content.  Just make sure that the articles flow well together.

There are lots of different ways to use this kind of content on your blog.  We know that blogs need to be updated and this kind of content can help achieve that goal.

Take a weekend and do a few articles and have them scheduled to be published monthly on your blog.  This can be your blog stocked with content in the near future.

The quality of the articles might not be really high, but this is where you can come in and add your own thoughts on the subject.  If you don't want to sit at your computer with a blank page trying to come up with new content, you can use these articles as a starting point.

Writing ebooks using your blog posts is another option.  You can bring articles together that might have been sitting on your blog that have not received the traffic that you think they deserve. Give those articles a new life as an ebook.  People give away ebooks to help build their mailing lists and you can do it too.  You don't even have to settle for giving away your ebooks, you could sell them too.

Writing is something that you do normally during the day.  Even if you don't want to personally write your blog posts or ebooks, you could use an audio program and then get the information transcribed into blog posts and articles.  You just have to start thinking outside of the box.

Google Adsense - Using Google Adsense on Your Home Office Blog

Google Adsense: What are some tips for using an ad program?

You have a home office site and you want to earn some money with it.  Selling your own products and services are job one.  There might be a way to make your home office site do double duty.  Think about adding Google Adsense to your home office site.

What is Google Adsense?  It is a contextual ad program.  You supply the content and google adsense will place ads on your site that are related.

Dust off your writing skills.  Write content everyday and write content that is interesting.

Many home office owners have one website.  Have you ever thought about creating more than just one site for your home office?   This can allow you to go after more niche markets, plus you have more opportunities for placing your google adsense ads.

When you are inside the google adsense dashboard, you will see the opportunity to setup special channels for your ads.  This can help you with monitoring your stats.  Name your channels and ads to make it easy to identify where the clicks and impressions are coming from.

Set up channels and monitor your statistics across all sites.  If one site is performing
poorly, consider changing the content or the ad layout.  Experiment!

Adsense ads can be customized!

Test different ad types and colors to see what works best for your sites. Try to blend your ads in with the colors of your web design.

Search engines are another key for google adsense.  Find out what people are searching for related to your topics. The google free keyword tool is a great place to start.  Type in some keywords that you know are related to your business and see what other options the keyword tool comes back with.

Take advantage of free google tools - Google Keyword Tool

You might be surprised to see how many other ways people are searching for information related to your topic.  Make sure to download the keywords that you find and add them to articles that you create for your sites.

Wasting Money on Domain Names

Trying to build an online business is interesting.  Creating websites, buying domain name, and writing web content are all time consuming but you are looking for the payoff in the end.  The idea is to get the ball rolling and get web traffic for your sites.  Once the content is created, you have an opportunity to earn income from there on into the future.

Building websites can allow you to make some bad decisions sometimes.  There might be a sale on domain names and you decide to invest a few dollars to test out a quick idea.  You might not even do any real homework as far as the keyword search count or if it makes any sense at all.

Domain Name Sales

You just know that there is a domain name sale and you don't want to miss out on it. After you finish buying the domain, you have to come up with a way to make it work. What ends up happening is that you don't have a clear strategy and a year passes and nothing has happened with the domain.  It seems to happen year after year.

The idea of forwarding the domains to cost per action offers or parking the domain for google income might cross your mind.  Sometimes that doesn't even pan out.  I guess it really helps to have a plan when it comes to domain names. When those domain name sales come, you can go to your list to see if they are still available and you don't end up making a bad decision.

Domain Name Sales with String Attached

One thing that you have to lookout for with those domain name sales are the fine print details. They might include auto-renewals or special offers of trial products that come with the purchase.  When renewal time comes around, you don't want any surprises on your account.  Check to see if the auto-renew option is selected for your domains after you have purchased them.  Auto-renewal might work for some people but I like to take them off and take my chances.  Sometimes you can find renewal codes for domain names and use them to save money.  The auto-renew regular prices for domain names can be pricey.

Video Marketing - Add Videos to Your Marketing Mix

Are you using video marketing for your home business?  The thing to remember is that all people don't like sitting and reading long blog posts or articles.  Some people might want to watch something that is entertaining and educational.

Making videos doesn't have to be hard or time consuming.  There are lots of ways to make videos quickly.  Remember that there are lots of people who are purchasing ipads and tablet computers.  There are many people that are connecting to the web with smartphones and electronic readers.  These devices are depending on good content and videos are just one way to connect with these mobile internet users.

Turn some of your photos into a video with animoto.  All you have to do is add your pictures and include text that is quickly turned into a great looking slideshow video with great graphics and sound.  The process doesn't take long to complete and in some cases the videos can be free.

Tutorials are another type of video that you should think about creating.  People are turning to the web for informational and instructional videos on all kinds of subjects.  Create the videos that will guide those users through the rough patches and get them to a new level of understanding.  You can use simple screen capture software to create good looking videos that provide really good educational value.

You can always use your own video camera to create and edit videos. This might require you getting in front of the camera and not everybody wants to do that.  If you are not camera shy, go for it and become an online celebrity.  Create videos and make sure to link back to your websites and blogs were your viewers can get even more solid information online.
